At right, Broncos Libero Anah Schwartz (20) goes after the volleyball while teammate Olivia Santee (9) looks on during Tuesday’s match against Lake of the Woods in the Falls High School gym.

International Falls’ volleyball team stayed with Lake of the Woods until the end Tuesday night in the Falls High School gym, but was unable to pull out a close third game before being swept by the Bears, 20-25, 16-25, 24-26.

“I definitely think we had some high points and some low points...,” said Falls head coach Erin Shikowsky. “We just need to recover more quickly from our mistakes.”

Statistical leaders for the Broncos included: Reva Renollet, eight set assists, seven digs; Hailey Fentem, nine kills, three ace blocks; and Tessa Walls, five kills, four ace blocks.

Tate Moeller led Lake of the Woods with 18 kills and four ace serves, while Tori Sindelir had 30 set assists and two blocks.

Shikowsky said the Bears had some of the best hitting the Broncos have seen so far this season.

“Our blocking was pretty good,” she said. “We were there slowing some (return hits) down, but yeah, they did have some big hitters that were getting over our block.”
