After two 18-hole rounds of golf late last week, International Falls senior Brett Musich came in runner-up at the Grand Slam Invitational hosted by Grand Rapids and Greenway.

In Friday’s round at the Pokegama course, Musich finished with a 71 to lead the rest of the field by at least 3 strokes.

He then carded a 79 at the Eagle Ridge course on Saturday to finish the two-day tournament 2 strokes behind the overall individual champion, Alec Odegaard of Grand Rapids, who finished wth a 148 after recording a 74 on both courses.

Grand Rapids’ Brett Kromry came in third with a two-day total of 153.

Falls’ next-best individual finish came from Brady Walls, who ended up 26th overall with 171 strokes over two days.

In the team standings, the Broncos placed seventh out of 11 teams at 678. Falls had been tied for third after the first day at 326 with Hibbing, the eventual fourth-place finisher.

Grand Rapids, which had the lowest team score on both days, finished first with 612, followed by Cambridge-Isanti (655), Detroit Lakes (668), Hibbing (670) and Duluth East (674) filling out the top five. Virginia (676) edged out the Falls for sixth by two strokes.
