Vikings winless in 2010

Littlefork-Big Falls’ baseball team enters 2011 with a new head coach and hopes of improving on last year’s 0-17 season.

“Hunger to win is a great strength to have,” said John Larson, whose previous head coaching experience at the school includes heading up the Vikings’ girls basketball team.

Larson said L-BF has an “experienced group of guys that are really wanting to win some games this year.”

The list of returning players includes seniors Reed Pritchard, Cody Pfeifer and Pat Boorman, juniors Cody Anderson, Garrett Larson and Mitch Nelson, and freshman Taylor DeLack.

Though he is entering his first season as the head baseball coach with concerns about the team’s confidence in winning games, Larson said the players have shown him over the past couple weeks of practice that “they have the desire to be a good team.”

“On a daily basis they continue to improve and are showing me that they are able to learn and retain that knowledge,” he said.

Larson said the team’s goals in 2011 include winning more games than losing, committing fewer errors every game, playing together as a team and working hard every day in practice.

“Every game is important,” he said.

Larson said he is looking forward to “the guys working hard to be better on the field, in the classroom, and great citizens in the communities of Littlefork and Big Falls.”
