Both the Bronco boys and girls track and field teams came in first in Tuesday’s Falls Invite.

In the six-team boys competition, Falls won with 142 points, followed by Bigfork (101), Virginia (98), AlBrook/Cotton/Cherry/Tower (59), Lake of the Woods (58) and Chisholm (47).

“The boys did a great job (Tuesday) afternoon,” said Bronco boys head coach Paul Hjelle. “Times, distances and heights continue to improve.”

Falls’ boys team had top-three finishes in 10 of the 14 individual events.

Sophomore Paul Skoglund placed first in the 110-meter hurdles (18.24 seconds) and runner-up in the 300 hurdles (48.54).

Junior Cade MacKay won the 800 run (2:21.15) and tied for second with teammate Jakob Ettestad in the pole vault (10 feet, 6 inches).

Falls senior Kyle Askey won the pole vault (11-0).

Juniors Logan Veillieux and Wenger placed second and third in the 3200 run in 12:15.72 and 12:39.18, respectively.

Junior Jason Pumper came in runner-up in the high jump (5-4).

Senior captain Tyler House recorded a trio of third place-finishes in the 100 dash (12.37), long jump (17-8.25) and triple jump (37-1).

Marco Griffith finished third in the 400 dash (57.78).

In the four relay events, the Broncos won the 4X400 (4:07.87) and came in second in the 4X800 (9:39.66), 4X200 (1:42.82) and 4X100 (48.65).

Falls girls first

In the five-team girls competition, the Falls finished well in front the rest of the field with 205.5 points, followed by AlBrook/Cotton/Cherry/Tower (68.5), Virginia (38), Lake of the Woods (31) and Bigfork (14).

The Bronco girls had top-three finishes in all 14 individuals events.

Falls went 1-2-3 in both hurdling events with sophomore Lexi Owen winning the 100 hurdles (19.25) and 300 hurdles (53.2).

Sophomore Hailey Fentem, who placed runner-up to Owen in the 100 hurdles (19.41), won the high jump (4-10) with Owen coming in second at 4-6. Fentem added a third-place finish in the long jump (13-8).

Sophomore Breanna Shofner won both the 100 dash (13.77) and 200 (28.2) and placed second in the long jump (13-11).

Freshman Savanah Olson won the shot put (34-2) and discus (88-10.5), while senior teammate Michele McDonald came in third in both events with respective throws of 29-3.5 and 82-6.5.

Sophomore Jaci Scholler won the triple jump (30-8.5) as part of a Bronco 1-2-3 finish in that event.

Scholler also came in third in the 100 dash (14.66).

In the distance running events, junior Amber Harms won the 3200 (12:45.15), seventh-grader Lexi Erickson finished first in the 1600 (5:57.29) and junior Rachel Foss placed second in the 800 (2:48.68).

Sophomore Amy Auran won the pole vault (8-6) as part  of a Broncos 1-2-3 finish in that event.

Freshman Madison Filipiak had runner-up finishes in the triple jump (28-4) and 300 hurdles (55.74), while senior teammate Therese Youso placed third in those events in 27-5 and 1:00.12, respectively. Youso also finished runner-up in the pole vault (6-6).

Eighth-grader Abby Kostiuk placed third in the 400 dash (1:07.84).

The Bronco girls won all four relay events — the 4X800 (10:47.06), 4X400 (4:51.48), 4X200 (1:56.91) and 4X100 (54.39).

Falls’ boys and girls teams compete Thursday at the Warroad K of C Invite.
