The International Falls girls track and field team extended its string of consecutive meet victories to four Thursday after winning the Warroad K of C Invite.
The Broncos placed first with 100 team points, followed by Warroad (87), West Marshall (73) and Lake of the Woods (9).
“I am very proud of my teammates because we brought home a win even though we were missing some key athletes,” said Falls senior captain Therese Youso. “It will be interesting to see how we do on Tuesday against some really tough competition in Grand Rapids.”
The Bronco girls had top-three finishes in all 14 individual events with two competitors winning more than one event.
Sophomore Lexi Owen won both the 100-meter hurdles (18.5 seconds), in which the Falls went 1-2-3, and the 300 hurdles (52.9). Sophomore Amy Auran placed first in the 1600 run (5:46.8) and pole vault (8 feet, 6 inches).

Freshman Maddie Filipiak was second in the triple jump (28-9.5) and third in the 300 hurdles (54.4).
“The weather was chilly but we still had some good times/distances and we hope to see those marks improve as the season progresses,” Filipiak said.
Falls’ other third-place individual finish came from Youso in the 100 hurdles (20.2).
In the four relay events, the Broncos’ only first-place finish came from Filipiak, Owen, Abby Kostiuk and Madeline Dahle in the 4X200 (1:59.4).

The Bronco boys team ended up in second place behind the meet’s host.
Warroad won with 96.5 points, followed by the Falls (85), West Marshall (66.5) and Lake of the Woods (23).

“I think we had a solid showing (Thursday),” Veillieux said. “I won a race for once and the weightmen got some ribbons, so I think they did amazing.”
