Five points separated the top-two girls track and field teams Friday when International Falls placed runner-up at the Lynae Morrow Invite in Hibbing.
Hermantown won the meet with 158.5 points, followed by the Falls (153.5), Mesabi East (113.5), Greenway/ Nashwauk-Keewatin (106.5), Hibbing (86), Eveleth-Gilbert (43) and Duluth Marshall (31).
Of the Broncos’ five individual first places, freshman Savanah Olson accounted for two of them, winning both the shot put (35 feet, 10.5 inches) and discus (101-1).
Sophomore sprinter Breanna Shofner won the 200-meter dash (27.2 seconds) and placed runner-up in the 100 (13.2).
Sophomore Hailey Fentem won the high jump (4-8), while sophomore Amy Auran finished first in the pole vault (8-6).
Seventh-grader Lexi Erickson recorded a pair of top-three finishes in two distance events, placing second in the 3200 run (12:44.9) and third in the 1600 (5:53.6).
Sophomore Jaci Scholler finished second in the triple jump (32-8).
Sophomore Lexi Owen placed third in the 300 hurdles (52.1) and also came in fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.7).
The Broncos also recorded a pair of top-two finishes in two of the four relay events.
Falls’ 4x100 relay team of Scholler, Owen, Shofner and Valandre Butler finished first in 53.9.
Scholler joined Auran, Abby Kostiuk and Madeline Dahle to place second in the 4X200 relay (1:57.2).
