LITTLEFORK - The Littlefork-Big Falls High School boys' basketball team lost 87-42 at home to the North Woods Grizzlies Friday evening.
The loss puts the Vikings' record at 4-12.
- Nathan Kennedy - 10 points
- Jacob Peterson - 10 points
- Anthony Cipriano - 10 points
The Grizzlies started the game on an 11-0 run, putting the Vikings at a disadvantage just a couple of minutes into the ballgame.
The Vikings had trouble getting around the Grizzlies' size advantage, making getting points in the paint difficult.
On the other side of the court, the Grizzlies used this aforementioned size advantage to get points in the paint, and they also shot really well from the outside to pour on the points.
One strategy the Vikings found worked well was feeding the ball to senior forward Jacob Peterson inside the paint.
This connection helped Peterson have a share of the top-scoring honors for the Vikings alongside junior guard Nathan Kennedy.
The Vikings had a tougher time scoring in the second half of Friday's game, leading the Grizzlies to take home the win.
Peterson said he and his teammates know the schedule is not going to get any easier, so it's up to them to rise to the challenge.
"It's going to be tough, but we just have to play hard and get our shots to fall," he said.
More to come
The Vikings were also in action Tuesday when they hosted the Northland Eagles, the results of which were unavailable at press time.
The Vikings will be back on the court at 7:15 p.m. Friday when they travel to take on the Deer River Warriors.
