Abby Thompson

Littlefork-Big Falls’ Abby Thompson (7) hits the ball over Naskwauk-Keewatin’s Kelsey Kennedy (22) and Sarah Stolp (19) in Wednesday afternoon’s match in the L-BF High School gym.

The Littlefork-Big Falls volleyball team closed out the regular season at home Wednesday afternoon when the Vikings swept Nashwauk-Keewatin, 25-18, 25-5, 25-12.

“I think the girls had fun (Wednesday afternoon),” said L-BF head coach Sarah Bradley. “I was proud of the way they were able to show up at 4 o’clock, which we haven’t had to do yet, and they showed up and they still played well.”

Statistical leaders for the Vikings included: DyAna Imhof, 10 kills, three blocks; Abby Thompson, eight aces, six kills, two blocks; and Emily Knaeble, three aces.

The match had initially been scheduled for Oct. 4, but was called off that day when wintry weather arrived in northern Minnesota.

It was rescheduled for Wednesday afternoon, prior to the L-BF football team hosting Bigfork and the Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin football team playing at International Falls that evening.

The Vikings’ volleyball team, which enters the postseason with an 18-3-1 record, will host its opening Section 7A tournament game next Wednesday at 7 p.m. against the winner of Monday's tournament match between Northland and Mountain Iron-Buhl.
