Jon Carlson scored twice, including the game-winner 3:10 into overtime, to help propel the Fort Frances Lakers to a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Dryden Ice Dogs Wednesday evening in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Memorial Arena in Dryden.

The hometown Ice Dogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period on goals by Derek McPhail and Tyson Holder.

A man advantage goal late in the second period got Fort Frances on the scoreboard as Jacob Nolan notched his 11th goal of the season at 17:26.

Mike Butler put Dryden back on top by a pair early in the final frame, only to see the Lakers storm back and force overtime.

Fort Frances captain Merritt Rysavy made it 3-2 at 8:13, then Carlson tied the game with 7:46 remaining in regulation.

Carlson then capped off the comeback by shooting in the winner as he buried his 13th effort of the campaign to finish things off.

The triumph helped extend the Lakers’ consecutive win streak to 11 straight outings going into this weekend’s action. The winning streak came to an end Friday, however, with a 2-1 home loss to Thunder Bay.

Talor Joseph won for a 10th time in as many starts for the Fort finishing up with 28 saves on the night.

Robert Kopytek faced 31 shots in the overtime setback. With the point, Dryden wrapped up the regular-season portion of its schedule at 28-25-2-1.

The Lakers are hosting the Thunder Bay North Stars this weekend in a two-game series that wraps up tonight at Ice for Kids Arena.

Game time this evening is set for 7:30.
