International Falls’ Junior League baseball team swept a road doubleheader Tuesday against Greenway, winning both games by way of the 10-run rule.

“We hit the ball really well,” said Falls Junior League head coach Mike Coffield.

In game one, Falls defeated Greenway in five innings, 15-4.

Walker Ulrich pitched a complete game to record the victory, allowing 6 hits while striking out two. 

Of Falls’ 16 hits, three players — Lane Skallman, Jordan Tilander and Riley Nemec — each had 3 hits with Skallman recording a double. Walker Wegner added 2 hits. Only one Falls batter struck out.

In the field, Falls’ Tate Promersberger recorded an unassisted double play at third base when the bases were loaded during the second inning.

I, Falls 20, Greenway 5

Game two went six innings when the Falls defeated Greenway, 20-5.

Nemec pitched the first five innings for the win, allowing 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out three. Tyler Coffield pitched the sixth inning, giving up a hit and recording a strikeout.

At the plate for the Falls, Tilander and Darian Erickson each had 4 hits and doubled. Nemec and Remington Veilleux each added 3 hits.

Falls’ Junior League team has its first home games of the summer scheduled for Tuesday with a doubleheader against Hibbing set to begin at 4 p.m. at Scheela Field.
