International Falls’ Billy “The Kidd” Christianson battled Friday night at the Minneapolis Hyatt in what the Minnesota Mixed Martial Arts News has called “the fight of the year.”
He faced Nick Compton at 155 pounds in the “main event” for the “Downtown Showdown.”
Christianson was initially supposed to face Zach “Juice” Juusola,” but Juusola pulled out because of an injury and was replaced by Compton.
The bout went into the third and final round before Compton won on a technical knockout. Christianson’s professional MMA record dropped to 6-2, while Compton improved to 5-2.
