Falls’ Junior League baseball team closed out its regular season schedule Tuesday by dropping a home doubleheader to a team from Hibbing.

In game one, Falls recorded both hits and runs in the opening frame when it lost, 15-2, in five innings.

Falls’ Tyler Coffield pitched the first 2 1/3 innings, giving up nine runs on seven hits with two walks. Walker Ulrich threw the final 2 2/3 innings, allowing six runs on 12 hits.

Hibbing 11, I. Falls 9

In game two, which also went five innings, Falls overcame an early 7-0 deficit to tie the game at 9-9 in the bottom of the fourth, but lost, 11-9.

Chase Bernard pitched all five innings for the Falls, giving up 11 hits.

Of Falls’ 10 hits, Bernard, Riley Nemec, Lane Skallman and Walker Wegner had two apiece.

The Falls, which finished the regular season 4-6, opens the District 4 Tournament at 2 p.m. Thursday against the host team, Greenway, at Bovey Field. The four-team tournament also includes Hibbing and Itasca.
