Two girls swimming and diving meets initially scheduled for home early next month at Falls High School are being moved to the opponents’ pools, Falls Athletic Director Don Rolando confirmed Tuesday.
After Falls opens the varsity season Aug. 30 at Hibbing, Rolando said the meets set for Sept. 4 and 6 against Grand Rapids and Eveleth-Gilbert won’t be taking place at home as originally planned.
With the FHS swimming pool now unavailable after tiles came off the bottom shortly after it reopened last month following a deepening project, girls head swimming coach Jill Herzig said the team will be practicing in the adjacent diving pool for the time being.
Though the possibility of holding home meets later in the girls season will depend on when the problem with the tiles not sticking could be fixed, Rolando said at this point no other meets planned at the FHS pool have been moved elsewhere.
