DyAna Imhof and Sarah Bradley

Junior DyAna Imhof spikes the volleyball over the net while head coach Sarah Bradley looks on.

Twenty-one girls in grades 9-12 will make up this year’s Littlefork-Big Falls varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams, head coach Sarah Bradley said Wednesday.

Of that number, Bradley said 13 will be part of the varsity roster.

The Vikings began practice this week for the 2012 season. Bradley is entering her second year as L-BF’s head coach after leading the Vikings last season to an overall match record of 20-6.

L-BF has lost only one player from last year’s team to graduation, setter Paige DeLack.

The Vikings open the season at 7 p.m. Thursday with a road match at Mesabi East, before their home opener Aug. 28 against Cherry.

L-BF then faces nearby rival International Falls on Aug. 30 in the Falls.

The Broncos open their season Thursday with a road game at Mountain Iron-Buhl, before Falls hosts Two Harbors on Aug. 29 and L-BF the following night.

A detailed preview of the Viking and Bronco volleyball teams will be published in the Aug. 22 edition of The Journal.
