Luke Spilde, who played forward as a sophomore this past winter on the International Falls boys hockey team, has been selected by the Fort Frances Lakers as part of the Superior International Junior Hockey League’s “1996 birth-year player draft” taking place last weekend.
Spilde, who was selected by the Lakers in the fifth round, had 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points appearing in 27 games for the Broncos in 2011-12.
The Lakers announced earlier this month that they signed a 2010 Falls High School graduate, forward Jordan Christianson, who will return for 2012-13.
Christianson, 19, was acquired by Fort Frances last November from the OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. He scored 21 goals and added 14 assists in 33 regular-season games for the Lakers.
The Lakers have also announced that they will be holding an “open prospects camp” July 20-22 at Bronco Arena.
