Littlefork-Big Falls’ volleyball team remained undefeated Tuesday night when the Vikings improved their season match record to 4-0 after sweeping Bigfork in three games in the L-BF gym, 25-8, 25-10, 25-21.
“I’m always happy to come out with a win,” said Vikings head coach Sarah Bradley. “I thought that the girls had some really good moments (Tuesday night), and then I thought that maybe they had some moments where our play was probably not what it could be.”
Both of L-BF’s seniors, Chelsey Ziemba and Courtney Pfeifer, recorded seven ace serves. Pfeifer added 11 digs.
Junior Brooke Millerbernd led the Vikings with 12 digs and also registered eight kills and three aces. Other statistical leaders for L-BF included DyAna Imhof with seven kills and Abby Thompson with two blocks.
Bradley said she thought the team’s net play against Bigfork was “OK.”
“I thought we could have had more chances to really hit the ball where we really didn’t, but we probably didn’t have as many chances to hit the ball as we have in the past,” she said.
The Vikings take their perfect match record on the road Thursday against Northland in what will be the first of three straight away contests.
“I think we’re getting to where we need to be,” Bradley said. “They’re getting stronger, they’re building that chemistry, which is, I think, very important.”
North Woods 3, I. Falls 0
International Falls lost for the second straight time Tuesday night when the Broncos were swept in Cook against North Woods, 25-13, 25-13, 25-22.
“North Woods has a nice team,” said Falls head coach Erin Shikowsky. “At this point, their passes are more consistent and their offense is quicker than ours.
“We did a good job of getting our block in place, and moving the ball to all our hitters. Now we need to use our hands better to score with the block and be more aggressive in our attack. We're also still working hard to be better defensively, be low and keep the ball in play.”
Statistical leaders for the Falls included: Reva Renollet, eight digs, six set assists, two ace serves; Marissa Meyer, eight digs; Sara Christianson, nine digs, two ace serves; and Hailey Fentem, five kills.
The Falls’ season record dropped to 2-2. The Broncos next play Thursday at Cherry.
“Every team on our schedule is tough this season, so our mission is to battle for each point, while learning from our mistakes and remaining positive,” said Shikowsky.
