Brian McBride took the win at the 35th annual “The Bud” golf tournament held Saturday at the Falls Country Club in International Falls.
“It was Brian’s best round of his life and he won it from the fourth flight, which is unusual,” said Tom O’Connell of the Falls Country Club. “His win is why you play the game.
The 2012 tournament attracted almost 150 players from around the state.
McBride shot an even par 72. His last tournament win was 35 years ago in the Club Championship. He spent “a lot of time” in the mornings this summer practicing by himself, O’Connell said.
“In the Bud it certainly paid off,” O’Connell said. “He told me that the key to the day was he stayed aggressive.”
