St. Catherine University hockey coach Brad Marshall has announced that International Falls High School senior Michele McDonald will be joining the Wildcats women’s hockey team in the fall of 2012.

“We are expecting her to come to St. Kate’s and continue her growth as a defenseman with great offensive skills,” Marshall said. “She can really shoot the puck, and seems to be able to make that important first pass with good consistency.”

During her hockey career at the Falls, McDonald earned All-State Honorable Mention honors and was named team MVP.

McDonald will graduate as the top-scoring defenseman in Bronco girls hockey history.

Falls girls hockey head coach Gerald Bolstad described McDonald as “just a super kid with a great attitude and a great love of the game.”

“She is by far the hardest-working player I’ve ever coached,” Bolstad said. “I believe Michele will do very well at St. Kate’s and in the MIAC.”

McDonald plans to study Occupational Therapy when she enrolls at St. Catherine University.
