Beste hired as L-BF’s head baseball coach

Dan Beste has been hired as Littlefork Big-Falls’ next head baseball coach following action Wednesday night by the L-BF School Board.

Beste, a social studies teacher at L-BF, replaces John Larson, who has left the head coaching position after two seasons to become the assistant baseball coach in 2013.

“I’m excited to be new coach,” Beste said.

Beste, who is in his first year at L-BF, noted his baseball coaching experience includes being an assistant varsity coach last season at Melrose and also having coached Babe Ruth and Legion baseball the past five years.

He also played high school baseball at Melrose and was a pitcher at the collegiate level at St. John’s University in Collegeville, an NCAA Division III team he played on for four years.

“I’ve been in baseball my whole life,” he said.

Though L-BF’s baseball program has had losing records in recent years, Beste said he hopes to be able to use his background in the game to “help baseball become something the town can look forward to.”
