Billy ‘The Kidd’ gets squeezed by ‘Juice’
International Falls’ Billy “The Kidd” Christianson lost his professional Mixed Martial Arts fight Saturday night at 155 pounds in the “main event” of the “Caged Chaos at Canterbury Park” in Shakopee.
Zach “Juice” Juusola, who trains at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy in Brooklyn Center, defeated Christianson on a first-round submission hold.
Juusola, who is ranked No. 2 at 155 pounds by Minnesota MMA News, improved to 9-2 as a pro.
Christianson’s pro record dropped to 6-3. He has lost two straight bouts, with both losses coming against ranked foes from the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, Juusola and Nick Compton.
Backus basketball clinic set for Oct. 18
A basketball clinic for boys and girls in grades 4-7 will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Backus Community Center.
The clinic is limited to the first 40 players who sign up. The deadline to register is Oct. 5.
The $10 registration fee includes a day of basketball, lunch and a t-shirt. Registration forms may be picked up at the Falls school offices or the Backus office.
L-BF spikers drop two at Thief River Falls
Littlefork-Big Falls’ volleyball team tasted defeat for the first time this year at Saturday’s Thief River Falls Tournament.
The Vikings were swept in two games by a Class AA team in Section 8, Roseau, 19-25, 18-25, and lost in three games to a Section 8A team, Warren-Alvarado-Oslo, 19-25, 25-16, 12-15.
L-BF also won a match and tied another at the tourney.
