Racers from the Falls Kart Club took to the track Sunday at the Rainy Lake Oil Raceway for an afternoon of action-packed racing.
In the Beginner class, Cameron Netland took the lead early with Caysie Thompson following in second place. On the last corner before the checkered flag, Netland got sideways, which allowed Thompson to inch past him at the finish line to get the win.
The Junior 1 class started with Justin Besch taking the lead from the start. Jake Froemke was able to pass the second place car after a few laps, but Besch had a full straightaway lead.
Froemke was able to reel Besch in, but entered the corner with too much speed, hitting Besch in the back bumper, which caused Froemke to spin out and brought out a yellow flag. Froemke was sent to the back for the restart and Besch hung on for the feature win.
The Junior 2 class action was between Cole Trimble and Wyatt Boyum. Trimble took the lead early with Boyum making a pass for the lead midway in the race, but Trimble was able to get the lead back and hold on for the feature win.
In the Senior division, Aaron Nelson came from the middle of the pack to challenge Adam Aili for the lead, but on the first attempt to pass Nelson got loose and lost two positions. Nelson battled back and with one lap to go took the lead and never looked back taking the feature win.
The Master class finished off the afternoon with Brian Nelson working his way up through the field and putting a textbook “slidejob” on Adam Aili to take the lead and hold on for the checkered flag.
The Falls Kart Club’s final afternoon of racing for 2012 is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, weather permitting.
