Rainy River Community College infielder/pitcher Riley Acra has been named to the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern All-Division baseball team for 2012.
“It’s an honor to have him selected,” said RRCC head coach Josh Koenig.
Acra, a freshman from Shawano, Wis., led the Voyageurs this season with a .375 batting average and 29 RBI. He was RRCC’s only player to appear in all 41 games.
In addition to the MCAC recognition, Acra has also been named the team’s Most Valuable Player and received the Big Bat Award in voting by RRCC’s players.
The Voyageurs’ five other team awards and their recipients include:
• Golden Glove — Gabriel Santos Muniz. As the team’s catcher, Santos Muniz had a .985 fielding percentage with only 2 errors. He appeared in 33 games and also batted .284 with 15 RBI.
• Most Dedicated — Bryn Redhead. He played in 40 games as a designated hitter/infielder/catcher and had a .302 batting average with 21 RBI.
• Hustle — Max Gonzalez. He played in 38 games as an outfielder/pitcher and batted .304 with 10 RBI.
• Most improved — Josh McInnes. He played in 34 games as an outfielder/pitcher and batted .250 with 12 RBI.
• Cy Young — Reece Lanier. He played in 29 games as a pitcher/infielder and had the most pitching victories on the team at four. In 12 pitching starts, he had a 4-8 record.
