Rainy River Community College’s softball team was able to complete the first game of a scheduled doubleheader at Ely on Wednesday when the Voyageurs defeated Vermilion, 13-3, in five innings.
Cateline Fafard recorded the pitching victory in a complete game, allowing 3 unearned runs on 4 hits with a walk. She also struck out six.
Of RRCC’s 11 hits, Marangeli Sanchez and Chelsea Poulton both had two of them. Poulton also drove in four runs, while Amanda Hofius had a home run and 3 RBI.
The Voyageurs’ second game stopped because of rain was slated to resume prior to the start of the Friday’s home doubleheader at Vermilion.
