The Rainy River Community College softball team won both games of a doubleheader Tuesday in Cloquet against Fond du Lac.

In game one, the Voyageurs defeated the Thunder, 6-4.

Cateline Fafard pitched all seven innings for RRCC, allowing 4 runs, two earned, on 10 hits and a walk while striking out six.

At the plate, Fafard had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

Chelsea Poulton and Kendra Charrois both had two hits with each also recording a double for RRCC, which tallied 10 hits as a team.

The Voyageurs erupted for 14 hits in game two when they stormed past the Thunder, 12-1, in five innings.

Poulton went 3-3 at the plate with a double and 4 RBI. Fafard, Charrois, Molly Baldwin and Kristen Cruickshank each added two hits for RRCC.

The Voyageurs also recorded six stolen bases with Cruickshank, Janet Scherrer and Marangeli Sanchez each stealing two.

Colby Redhead pitched all five innings for the Voyageurs to record the victory after allowing an earned run on 4 hits and a walk while striking out two.

RRCC plays its home opener Monday when the Voyageurs host Vermilion in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
