The Rainy River Community College softball team continued its winning ways in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference on Wednesday when the Voyageurs swept a doubleheader in Brainerd against Central Lakes.

RRCC tallied 8 hits on the way to edging out Central Lakes in the first game, 4-3.

Marangeli Sanchez, Molly Baldwin and Brittany Johnson each had a pair of singles for the Voyageurs. Chelsea Poulton doubled for the team’s only multiple-base hit.

Cateline Fafard pitched a complete game to record the victory, allowing 5 hits and a walk while striking out four.

RRCC 10, Central Lakes 6

The Voyageurs registered 11 hits en route to winning the second game, 10-6.

Baldwin and Amanda Hofius each had a pair of singles, while Poulton and Johnson both doubled.

Colby Redhead pitched 4 1/3 innings to record the victory, allowing 4 runs, three earned, on 7 hits with 2 walks. Fafard pitched 2 2/3 innings to record a save, giving up 2 unearned runs on 4 hits while striking out one.

RRCC is 8-7 overall and has won all six MCAC games.

The Voyageurs play a doubleheader today at Hibbing and host a twin bill Sunday for their home opener against Itasca.
