Last week’s trip to Titusville, Fla., didn’t produce any victories in six games for Rainy River Community College’s softball team.
The Voyageurs lost their opening contest last Wednesday in five innings to Tompkins Courtland Community College of New York, 10-0.
Cateline Fafard recorded the pitching loss after working 1 2/3 innings, giving up 8 runs, four earned, on seven hits and two walks, while striking out one and throwing a wild pitch.
Amanda Hofius pitched the final 3 1/3 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on four hits and a walk. She also struck out a batter and threw a wild pitch.
Colby Redhead, Molly Baldwin and Jenna Brady each had a hit for RRCC.
TC 11, RRCC 3
In game two against Tompkins Courtland, the Voyageurs lost, 11-3.
Redhead took the pitching loss working 1 1/3 innings, giving up 4 runs, three earned, on 3 hits and a walk with a wild pitch.
Kristen Cruickshank, who had a hit and batted in two runs for RRCC, also pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief. She gave up 5 runs, two earned, on 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out one.
Fafard pitched the final inning, allowing 2 unearned runs on 4 hits and 3 walks.
Ancilla 9, RRCC 1
In last Wednesday’s final game, the Voyageurs lost to Ancilla College of Indiana, 9-1
Cruickshank doubled and drove in RRCC’s only run.
Redhead recorded the pitching loss working 2 2/3 innings, giving up 5 runs, only one earned, on 6 hits and a walk while recording a strikeout.
Cruickshank pitched an inning in relief, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and a walk.
Prairie State 26, RRCC 6
In the first of three games Thursday, the Voyageurs scored the most runs and also gave up the most runs of any contest on their Florida trip, losing to Prairie State College of Illinois, 26-6.
At the plate, RRCC’s Marangeli Sanchez went 4-4 with 2 RBI, while Hofius added 2 hits.
Fafard recorded the pitching loss after 2 1/3 innings, allowing 8 runs, only two earned, on 6 hits while throwing two wild pitches.
Redhead gave up 8 runs, five earned, after allowing 6 hits and 2 walks pitching 1/3 inning. Hofius pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, giving up 10 runs, only three earned, on 8 hits and 3 walks and another batter hit by a pitch.
Prairie State 19, RRCC 4
Hofius, Fafard and Cruickshank each had two hits when the Voyageurs lost the second game to Prairie State, 19-4.
Cruickshank took the pitching loss after working 1/3 inning, giving up 6 runs, four earned, on 5 hits and a wild pitch.
Molly Baldwin pitched in relief for 2 1/3 innings, allowing 7 runs, six earned, on 6 hits and two wild pitches.
Colby Redhead pitched the final 1 1/3 innings, giving up 6 unearned runs on 6 hits and 2 walks.
Ancilla 18, RRCC 1
RRCC closed out its Florida trip Thursday losing to Ancilla, 18-1
Fafard recorded the pitching loss after 2 1/3 innings, allowing 10 runs, only two earned, on 10 hits and a walk while throwing a wild pitch and striking out a batter.
Hofius pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief, giving up 4 earned runs on 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out two.
Cruickshank allowed 4 earned runs on 4 hits with a wild pitch having pitched the final inning.
Kendra Charrois and Hofius each had a hit for the Voyageurs.
RRCC, which has an overall record of 2-7, plays a doubleheader next Tuesday in Cloquet against Fond du Lac.
