The Rainy River Community College softball team played at home for the first time this season when the Voyageurs swept a doubleheader Friday against Fond du Lac.
RRCC shut out the Thunder in the opening game, 9-0.
Cateline Fafard pitched the complete game victory for the Voyageurs, allowing 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out four.
Of RRCC’s 13 hits, Fafard, Marangeli Sanchez, Chelsea Poulton, Kristen Cruickshank and Brittany Johnson each had two.

Fond du Lac 4
The Voyageurs recorded 15 hits defeating Fond du Lac in the second game, 10-4.
Cruickshank registered 4 singles, while Poulton had 3 singles and Johnson added a single and a double.
Colby Redhead recorded the pitching victory in a complete game, allowing 4 runs, two earned, on 8 hits with 3 walks while striking out six.
Johnson ‘Player of the Week’
For her efforts last week, Johnson, a freshman from Sidney, Mont., has been named the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division’s “Player of the Week.”
Johnson batted .533 (8-15) with 5 RBI as RRCC won three of four games. She had a double, one stolen base and also walked three times.
RRCC, which is 10-2 in MCAC games with 14 Division points and 12-9 overall, returns to action today when the Voyageurs play a doubleheader at Ely against Vermilion.
