Two Rainy River Community College baseball players have been recognized by the Minnesota College Athletic Conference for their efforts last week.

Reece Lanier has been named the MCAC Northern Division’s Pitcher of the Week, while Riley Acra is the Player of the Week.

Lanier, a freshman from Lehigh Acres, Fla., went 2-0 on the mound tossing a pair of shutouts. In a 13-0 victory over Vermilion, Lanier allowed 2 hits while striking out five. In the 5-0 win over Northland, he gave up 5 hits and struck out seven.

Acra, a freshman from Shawano, Wis., batted .524 (11-21) for the Voyageurs. He scored 9 runs and had 12 RBI with 8 singles, 2 doubles and a homer.

RRCC head coach Josh Koenig the Pitcher of the Week and Player of the Week recognition, the first this season for the team, was a great honor for both players.

The Voyageurs host their home opener at 1 p.m. Sunday with a doubleheader against Vermilion.
