Volunteer Luncheon
Over 80 Backus Community Center volunteers were recognized at a luncheon May 8 at Backus. Volunteer coordinator Robin Bjorkquist was instrumental in organizing the event. Ward Merrill, executive director at Backus, offered thanks on behalf of the Citizens for Backus/AB. He stated that during the year, volunteers provided over 2,300 hours, which translates into over $50,000 in savings to the center. Spring flowers were awarded as door prizes and winner of a floral arrangement, donated by Gearhart Floral, was Shirley Frank.
