Sonia Wegge was elected president of the Rainy Lake Medical Center Auxiliary at the meeting conducted Dec. 4 at the hospital. Also elected were Beverly Beck, vice president; Mary Ann Lien, corresponding secretary; and Bea Brown, treasurer. Officers will assume their offices at the Jan. 8 meeting of the auxiliary.
Audrey Dahl donated a gavel to the auxiliary.
In other business, liaison Angela Liedke gave a report on the hospital happenings. There is a plan to implement an electronic medical records system. She set up a meeting for the auxilians to view the new Cairo safety bed which the auxiliary purchased over a two-year period. Members were impressed with features of the bed. A digital scale weighs the patient without having to be moved. Nurses report that they like the features of the bed.
Gift Shop chairperson Helen Billig gave her report. The shop is beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. New at the shop are scarves, cheese balls, tasty dip mixes, Benson fruitcakes, burlap bottle holders, cookie mixes and glassware.
The quilt fashioned by Pam Hanson will be awarded Dec. 21.
Corresponding secretary Lien read a thank you note from the maintenance department. Carol Lagoo gave a report on the successful bake sale.
Attendance prizes were awarded to Connie Lacher and Lagoo.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the auxiliary will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 8 at the hospital. (Note change of date.)
