Leslie Walter Thayer, 78, of Loman, Minn., died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at his home.
Leslie was born Jan. 8, 1933, in Galetta, Ontario, Canada to Walter and Doris Thayer.
He went to school in Mine Centre in Ontario, and worked at a young age to help support his family for many years.
Leslie was a truck driver, worked construction, was employed at Boise, worked for the Duluth News Tribune, and The Daily Journal, where he retired from.
He loved hunting, gardening, playing cards, shooting pool, and being outdoors.
He loved spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Doris; sisters, Rita and Velma; and brothers, Harold and Ivan.
Leslie is survived by his longtime companion, Sharon Forsythe; sons, Fred Thayer, Conelly Thayer and Scott Forsythe; daughters, Lesley Ann Thayer, Dawn Battalion and Bonnie (Gordy) Helderman; grandchildren, Destiny Erickson, Briana Erickson, Sienna Helderman and Shayna Helderman; and sisters, Evelyn Webb and Melody Cawley.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Aug. 13, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Loman.
Interment will be at Loman Cemetery.
