To the editor,

I hope all local residents will consider making a charitable donation during Give to the Max Day tomorrow, Nov. 15. This is the world’s largest one-day fund raising event and many nonprofits from our area are participating. Last year $13.4 million was raised.

From midnight to 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 15, you can enter the portal www.GiveMN.org and click on the zip code, key word or cause to find a charity or fund raiser you wish to support. Your donation is secure and can be made anonymously if you wish.  Your tax deduction receipt will be sent to you via email. This website makes it easy to learn about the mission, services and needs of our local programs and projects through the customized profiles there.

You’ll find these local organizations (and many more) from zip code 56649: Backus Community Center, Borderland Humane Society, Falls Hunger Coalition, Friends Against Abuse, Icebox Radio Theater, Koochiching Aging Options and Rainy River Community College Foundation.

The website is part of GiveMN, a nonprofit in itself whose mission is to grow charitable giving in Minnesota and bring more of it online. Join me and fellow Minnesotans in making a generous gift to one or more of our organizations.
