Falls’ boys basketball team improved to 3-0 Tuesday night with a 70-35 home victory against Chisholm.
“We played very, very good defense,” said Broncos head coach Derek Dowty, who also noted Chisholm’s top offensive threat, Aden Casey, only scored about a third of the points he made in recent games when he had been averaging around 30 per game.
The Bluestreaks led 8-7 with 13:37 left in the first half when Aaron Musburger made two free throws.
Then Falls went on a 13-3 run before Chisholm called timeout with 7:13 left before halftime.
The Broncos continued to pull away as they led 34-18 at intermission.
Falls then scored the next 13 points as the Bluestreaks’ shooting woes continued in the second half as they went without a basket for about 5:30.
Dowty said the Broncos used height to their advantage to shut down Chisholm’s offense.
“They get kind of intimidated when they’re getting close to the basket, because we’ve got some good shot blockers on the team,” he said. “I do think our length has something to do with them not shooting very good.”
Falls, on the other hand, had four players score in double figures. Forrest Arch had a game-high 17 points, followed by Gunnar Anderson with 16, Andre McMillion with 15 and Ben Humbert with 13. Humbert recorded a “double double” as he was also credited with hauling in 10 rebounds.
The Broncos will be back in action Friday against Ely.
