International Falls’ volleyball team lost for the second time this season after being swept at home Thursday night by Cherry, 21-25, 11-25, 21-25.
“The first and the third game we battled with them — we worked hard for every point,” said Bronco head coach Erin Shikowsky. “We’re still really struggling with our passing, so I think just that really hurt us (Thursday night).
“We had a hard time setting up any offense, and it just wasn’t our best effort.”
Freshman Tessa Walls paced the Broncos with 10 kills, four blocks and three digs. Reva Renollet added a kill and 17 set assists. Kelsey Foss had 10 digs.
Shikowsky said she found Cherry — which, like the Broncos, previously lost this season to Littlefork-Big Falls — to be a great team.
“They work together, they pass well, they have some offense (and) they have some plays,” she said.
Cherry’s statistical leaders included:
• Shaina Novak, 28 digs.
• Kacey Herring, 10 kills.
• Macey Etter, eight kills, four ace serves.
• Taylor Sauter, nine kills, four blocks, three ace serves.
• Tanner Ersbo, five kills.
• Angel Dahl, 17 set assists, five kills, two blocks.
The loss dropped Falls’ season match record to 3-2.
