International Falls’ volleyball team rebounded Tuesday night from last week’s loss against rival Littlefork-Big Falls and improved to 3-1 with a home sweep of North Woods, 26-24, 25-12, 25-18.
“We got off to a little bit of a rocky start, but we definitely fought back,” said Broncos head coach Erin Shikowsky. “I think they made a few more errors than we did, but I thought we earned our points and we fought hard for each point, and we’re going to continue to do that all season.”
The Grizzlies led 11-3 in the opening game before Falls called a timeout to regroup. The Broncos then waged a comeback and tied the game at 23-23 before outscoring North Woods 3-1 for the win.
Falls pulled away late in the final two games to win by comfortable margins.
Bronco freshman Tessa Walls recorded seven kills, six blocks and three digs. Jenna Vergeldt added three kills and two ace serves. Reva Renollet had two kills, five ace serves, 12 set assists and five digs. Sarah Christianson recorded nine digs.
