The long drive to Foley came up empty on the scoreboard Friday for Falls’ football team.

The Broncos opened the 2011 season on the road by being shut out by the Falcons, 49-0.

Falls trailed 34-0 at halftime as the turnover bug bit the Broncos, who lost three fumbles and gave up an interception.

Foley more than quadrupled the Falls on offense with 398 total yards, compared to only 84 net yards for the Broncos.

The Falcons’ ground game racked up 258 yards in 42 rushing attempts, compared to 35 net yards on 32 attempts for the Falls.

Bronco quarterback Gunnar Anderson completed only two of 11 passes for 49 yards. The longest gain for the Falls came on a 38-yard reception by Josh Owen.

Falls begins Sea-Range Conference action Friday when the Broncos host Virginia at 7 p.m. at Sports Stadium.
