Littlefork-Big Falls had some offense and very little defense on Friday night when the Vikings hosted North Woods in their home opener and second game of the season.

The Grizzlies devoured L-BF, 52-18.

“Our main concern is defense,” said Vikings head coach Derek Bilben. “We need to get better defensively.”

All three touchdowns by the Vikings, who trailed 36-6 at halftime, came on the ground. Three players accounted for 226 yards rushing for L-BF, compared to only 23 receiving yards as a team.

Junior running back Bryce Burmeister scored two touchdowns running for 45 yards on 13 carries, while senior halfback Mitch Nelson accounted for the other touchdown as he ran for 85 yards on 22 carries.

Junior halfback Richie Van Drunen led the Vikings in rushing with 96 yards on 16 carries. He also accounted for L-BF’s longest pass reception of the game for 19 yards.

Freshman quarterback Rylan Henrickson completed only two of six passes for 23 yards and threw two interceptions for the Vikings.

L-BF dropped to 0-2 for the season after also having lost the season opener at Bigfork, 60-36.

“We can’t give up 52 and 60 (points) and expect to win,” Bilben said.

The Vikings will be back in action Friday when they host Mountain Iron-Buhl at 7 p.m.
