International Falls’ girls hockey team lost its second consecutive game Thursday night when the Broncos were shut out at home by Thief River Falls, 5-0.

The loss dropped International Falls’ season record to 8-5.

The game remained scoreless in the first 14 minutes before the Prowlers’ Emily Bergland put a pair of shots past Broncos sophomore goalie Keanna Carlson to give Thief Rivers Falls a 2-0 lead after the first period.

International Falls was unable to capitalize on its power play opportunities in the second period as the Prowlers extended their lead to 3-0 with 1:36 left in the period when Kora Torkelson scored assisted by Jordan Solheim and Brandi Malwitz.

Thief River Falls added two more goals early in the third period.

The Prowlers’ Megan Bergland found the net 44 seconds into the period assisted by Emily Bergland and Patti Marshall.

The game’s final goal came with 15:15 to play when Solheim scored assisted by Marshall.

The Prowlers more than tripled the Broncos in shots on goal by outshooting the home team, 42-13.

Kaylee Koop recorded the shutout in goal for Thief River Falls.

Following the game, a presentation was made on the ice to award the Prowlers with a traveling trophy.
