The Rainy River Community College volleyball team lost Monday’s match on the road against Bismarck State College in five sets, 25-27, 25-13, 28-26, 18-25, 9-15.

Haylee Gates paced the Voyageurs with 20 kills and five ace serves.

Kelly Sorensen and Tiffany Schumacher each had 26 digs. Nakita Estling added 35 set assists and 23 digs.

RRCC won its first Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division match of the season Saturday at Cloquet by defeating Fond du Lac in four games, 23-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-10.

Gates led the Voyageurs with 18 kills and three blocks. Katrina Wreggitt added 12 kills.

Sorensen recorded 16 digs and three ace serves for RRCC, while Estling had 31 set assists.

The Voyageurs improved their MCAC record to 1-2.

RRCC is back in action today at 6:30 p.m. when the Voyageurs host Hibbing.
