The Rainy River Community College baseball team hosted its first annual Alumni game last Sunday at Scheela Field.

In the first game of a doubleheader, the Voyageurs defeated the Alumni team, 3-0.

Ty Paddock pitched a complete game, two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts. Chad Sohlman took the loss on the mound for the Alumni team. Sohlman also pitched a complete game, giving up four hits.

The Voyageurs were led at the plate by Riley Acra who went 2-3 with 2 RBI and a stolen base. Max Gonzalez and Chandler Ticknor had the team’s other two hits.

In game two, RRCC defeated the Alumni team, 8-0.

The Voyageurs’ pitchers only gave up one hit in the game that came in the top of the seventh inning with two outs.

Max Gonzalez recorded the win pitching five innings. Riley Acra pitched the sixth and Josh McInnes took the mound in the seventh to complete the game for the Voyageurs.

Evan Marsh took the loss for the Alumni team.

The Voyageurs were led offensively by Angel Hernandez Jr., who was 2-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Jamall Hudson, Chandler Ticknor and Brett Orpin each had a hit for RRCC.

The Voyageurs held their “Fall Ball” practice in September and are beginning their off-season training and workouts, prior to the start of the 2012 schedule.
