Rainy River Community College is entering tournament action on a losing note after dropping the final regular season match at home Wednesday in three straight games to Central Lakes by identical 25-21 scores.

RRCC’s statistical leaders included Kelly Sorensen with 12 digs and Nakita Estling with 22 set assists. Tiffany Schumacher and Kristen Cruickshank each had nine kills.

The Voyageurs fell to 9-5 in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference’s Northern Division and 18-12 overall.

RRCC will be seeded No. 4 in the Region 13B tournament that starts next Friday at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls.

The Voyageurs face the top seed, Northland, in the 5 p.m. game. RRCC lost both conference games against Northland this season.

The tournament’s No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, Central Lakes and Itasca, play each other at 7 p.m.

The Region 13B championship match will take place at Northland on the following day, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m. The champion will advance to the NJCAA Volleyball Tournament being held Nov. 11-12 in Rochester.
