The International Falls Fusion 12U girls softball team closed out the regular season schedule Wednesday by sweeping a home doubleheader against the Hibbing White.
In the opening 20-2 victory in three innings, Casey Meyers allowed only two hits and struck out two. Emily Treat had three hits, including a triple, while Madison Truty doubled on one of her three hits. Five Fusion players scored on all three of their appearances at the plate.
Fusion won the second game 22-6 in four innings. Allison Taschuk had a double and two singles, while Clara Palm recorded an inside-the-park home run. Treat and Cassi Harju scored on all four of their plate appearances. Treat, Taschuk, Alexis Graves and Marissa Kerry shared the pitching duties, allowing a combined five hits.
The Fusion closed out the season 7-3 in Arrowhead League play and 3-6 in tournament action for an overall 10-9 record.
Treat, Truty and Taschuk have been selected to be part of this year’s Arrowhead League All-Star competition set for Aug. 2 in Grand Rapids.
The trio will be participating in a skills competition that day at 4 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. doubleheader that includes Arrowhead All-Stars from eight teams playing against each other.
