The pairings have been finalized for the three-team Junior League state baseball tournament that International Falls will be competing in starting today in Cloquet.

With all the games being played at Mettner Field, the high school baseball field in Cloquet, Falls opens the tournament tonight at 6 against Lake Park, the team representing the Duluth area.

Falls is scheduled to be back in action at 6 p.m. Thursday against Plymouth /New Hope, the team representing the western suburbs of Minneapolis.

Plymouth/New Hope and Lake Park are slated to play each other at 2 p.m. Friday, the day Falls isn’t competing.

Based on how the three teams do against each other in the round-robin play July 27-29, the No. 2- and No. 3-seeded teams will face each other at 10 a.m. Saturday. That winner will play the No. 1 seed for the state championship at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Falls qualified for the state tournament after winning the four-team district tournament it hosted July 14-16 at Scheela Field.
