Falls’ VFW baseball team won one and lost three at last weekend’s Hermantown tournament.

On Friday, Falls opened up tournament action with a 7-2 loss against Superior. Ben Humbert was the losing pitcher of record, giving up seven hits and six walks while striking out eight. Of Falls three hits, Wyatt Ulrich accounted for two singles.

Falls closed out Friday’s action with a 4-3 loss to Hermantown in eight innings. Caleb Dahlin pitched the entire game as he allowed three hits and six walks with 11 strikeouts. Dahlin and Jackson Vollom each had one of Falls’ two total hits.

On Saturday, Falls picked up its only win of the tournament with a 7-2 victory over Esko. Gunnar Anderson pitched the entire game, giving up six hits and two walks while striking out nine. Humbert paced Falls’ offense with two of the team’s five hits.

Falls closed out the tournament on Saturday with an 11-6 loss in the third-place game against Superior.

Cole Miggins recorded the pitching loss in the second game against Superior as Vollom and Ulrich made relief appearances. Anderson accounted for half of Falls’ runs on a three-run homer and also doubled, while Vollom, Dahlin and Humbert each added a single.
