Bronco sports fans will have another month to submit nominations for possible hall of fame inductees.

The group involved in establishing an athletic hall of fame at International Falls High School agreed Wednesday to extend the deadline to accept nominations for the first inductees to Nov. 1.

Bronco sports booster and math teacher Timm Ringhofer reported at the group’s meeting this week that 26 nominations had been received as of Wednesday.

The nomination form, which was included in this summer’s FHS Alumni Newsletter, has also been available this fall at Bronco home games and posted on the school district’s website.

Ringhofer said the nomination form, along with a separate fund-raising form for the hall of fame, will be included in the Alumni Newsletter being sent out this month.

The nomination form seeks the name of a player, coach/director/advisor, at-large member or team to submit to the hall of fame in care of athletic director Don Rolando.

Rolando, Ringhofer, Falls School Board member and former head football coach Stuart Nordquist and a few others began meeting in April in an effort to set up the hall of fame.

While the process of accepting nominations will continue until Nov. 1, the details on determining who to induct into the hall of fame have yet to be finalized. The group has looked at a proposal to set up a seven-member selection committee for that purpose.

Based on that written proposal, a five-sevenths majority vote would be required to be inducted into the hall of fame.

The proposal also would direct the selection committee to vote on no more than six nominees in the first year and no more than four in subsequent years.

In addition to accepting nominations, the group has been seeking “seed money” to cover start-up costs, such as expenses related to purchasing plaques and holding banquets to honor the inductees.

The Falls School Board this summer approved establishing an assigned fund balance for the purpose of receiving charitable contributions for the Bronco Hall of Fame.

The group has been looking into having the hall of fame plaques displayed on the wall area next to the FHS gym entrance.

Group member Chris Oustad reported Wednesday on how much it might cost to hold an induction banquet at some area establishments.

Ringhofer suggested holding the first induction banquet next year sometime between the winter and spring sports seasons.

The group’s next meeting is set for Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 212 at FHS.
