Falls’ Junior League baseball team enters the District Tournament it is hosting July 14-17 after sweeping a pair of doubleheaders late last week.

At home on Friday, Falls trounced Greenway, 15-5 and 17-3.

In the opening game, Falls broke open a 2-0 lead by batting around the order in the bottom of the third inning, which included two pitching changes for Greenway.

Cole Miggins took the mound for the first three innings for the Falls with Jakob Eide pitching in relief for the final two frames.

Kevin Kilbride, Jack Bartkowski, Ben Humbert and Clay Bergstrom each had two hits.

Bartkowski pitched the first two innings of the second game before Evan Wimmer took the mound in the third.

At the plate, Bartkowski, Jackson Vollom, Max Vergeldt and Walker Wegner each had two hits.

Falls won Thursday’s road doubleheader against split squads from Hibbing, 15-0 and 9-2.

Five Falls players accounted for multiple hits in the opening, five-inning victory. Vergeldt connected for three hits, while Wyatt Ulrich, Kilbride, Jack Mellstrom and Miggins each had two.

Humbert pitched the first three innings for the Falls before Mellstrom took the mound for the final two frames.

In game two, Mellstrom and Miggins paced Falls’ offense with two hits apiece. Vollom pitched the opening three innings before Ulrich relieved him for the final four frames.
