Naomi Woods Wins Glancy Poetry Award for Her Comedic Poem

Naomi Woods of Ranier is the 2007 recipient of the “Diane Glancy Poetry Award.”

Her comedic poem “Real Burning Poetic Love, Baby” appears in the 2007 “Dust and Fire.” Woods pokes fun at poetry, love, nature and Native American cliches.

Diane Glancy, in whose name the award is given, has received numerous awards for her writing, including the Pushcart Prize and American Book Award. Glancy also served as poet laureate of the Five Civilized Tribes. She teaches literature and writing at Macalaster College in St. Paul.
